Our History
Command Medical Products
Nearly Four Decades of Partnership, Precision and Shared Success
Command Medical Products was founded by David T. Slick, Sr. in 1987 in Ormond Beach, Florida. Already experienced in medical device manufacturing, David recognized that medical device OEMs needed more than a traditional contract manufacturer. They needed a strategic partner capable of solving complex manufacturing challenges with integrity, responsiveness and an unwavering commitment to quality.
Command was built around that belief. By combining engineering expertise with vertically integrated manufacturing, the company became a trusted partner in the production of single-use medical devices. Particularly devices designed to safely contain, store and transfer fluids in critical healthcare applications.
Growing Alongside Our Customers
As our customers’ needs evolved, Command continually invested in its people, technology and manufacturing capabilities. Expertise in tube extrusion, advanced welding, cleanroom assembly, and downstream processing supports complex programs from design and technology transfer through finished device release.
This focused approach produced rapid early growth. During the 1990s, Command was recognized by the Inc. 500 as one of the fastest-growing privately held companies in America.
In 1998, Command strengthened its Quality Management System to meet the ISO 13485 standard for medical devices. Today, Command’s operations are FDA registered and ISO 13485:2016 certified, with multiple ISO Class 7 cleanrooms supporting the controlled manufacture and assembly of critical medical devices.
A Resilient Nearshore Manufacturing Platform
In 2005, Command expanded into Managua, Nicaragua, establishing a nearshore manufacturing operation for high-volume, labor-intensive programs. The facility complemented Command’s United States operations by providing customers with greater cost efficiency, production flexibility and supply-chain resilience under a shared Quality Management System.
Continued growth led to larger facilities and additional capacity in 2008 and 2011. Over time, Command developed a dual-geography manufacturing platform that combines the quality and regulatory transparency of domestic production with the scalability and efficiency of nearshore manufacturing.
A New Chapter of Growth
In February 2024, Command Medical Products was acquired by Argosy Healthcare Partners, a lower-middle-market private equity fund focused exclusively on healthcare and part of Argosy Capital Group, an investment firm with approximately $3.3 billion in assets under management.
With Argosy’s support, Command continues to invest in advanced manufacturing technologies, operational excellence and the people who make enduring customer partnerships possible. While the company’s capabilities and footprint continue to grow, the principles on which it was built remain unchanged: integrity, accountability, agility, quality and a commitment to long-term partnership.
Moving Forward with Purpose
Today, leading MedTech OEMs and life sciences organizations rely on Command as a specialized fluid-management manufacturing partner. Our integrated operations in the United States and Central America help customers navigate complexity, respond to changing demand and bring safe, high-quality medical devices to market with confidence.
